Bloody Crane's Bill (Geranium sanguineum) HP/BB/BN
A very versatile plant and makes a valuable garden addition with its brilliant dark cerise flowers all summer and compact ferny leaves which turn a brilliant rusty-red colour in autumn. Not common in the wild but can be seen on the coast of Scotland, County Clare and in northern England. Found on alkaline soils in upland meadows, on rocks, by the sea and in woods. In the garden it grows best in full sun or light shade on well-drained, fertile and alkaline soil. Ht 4-16in.
