Primrose (Primula vulgaris) HP/BB
Nothing is quite like the sight of a shady bank covered in Primroses in flower in spring. One of our best loved wild flowers which unfortunately has suffered because of its popularity by being taken from the wild. Hopefully this has now been curtailed and the numbers are beginning to recover. Prefers a spot, shaded from the hot summer sunshine – best in shady grassland or woodland. Pretty yellow flowers in spring which will self-seed where happy. Important food for early bees and the orange tipped butterflies. Ht to 6in.
