Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla mollis) HP/BB AGM
The early morning dew that collects on the hairy leaves of this plant looks like perfect pearl drops. This dew was highly valued by early herbalists and it has long inspired both poets and alchemists. It was believed to have magical healing properties. A profusion of tiny, greenish yellow flowers are borne in summer, the leaves are large, green and rounded with crinkled edges. It is a useful and attractive plant for dry shade or as ground cover and combines well with geraniums and scabious. Originally from the Carpathian mountains in Slovakia, it is now naturalised throughout Britain. HT and S 20in or more.
