Bird's Foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) HP/BB/BN
A common but pretty little plant found growing in many areas with poor sandy soil such as on dry heaths with harebells and tormentil, near the sea with lady’s bedstraw, hawkweed, thrift and sea campion. The buds are tinted with mahogany-red and open in May-June to bright yellow pea-like flowers. An important food plant for the common blue butterfly. For full sun and poor, sandy or gritty soil.
