Red Valerian (Centranthus rubra)
The deep red flowers of the red valerian are a jolly addition to the mid-summer garden – good for between paving stones and from the tops of walls. It is a bushy plant with large, branched flowerheads bearing clusters of tiny fragrant flowers, very attractive to butterflies. Ht 1-3ft. Best in well-drained poor soil in sun. The bees and butterflies love it.
